After Wind River we were into car camping and day hikes in Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. While in Grand Teton we did some rafting on the Snake River and a 2 hour horseback ride. Both were excellent additions to the trip.

The 2005 Summer Trip was a huge success. 14 members of the crew flew to Salt Lake City Utah then drove around Wyoming. The first portion of the adventure was a backpacking trip in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. The original plan was to spend 4 nights on the trail, but we ended up cutting that short due to snow and ice conditions! This was June 29th and there was still so much snow above 10,500 feet that the trails were impassable. Not to worry, we simply changed plans and ended up at a hot springs a bit closer to Grand Tetons. These things have a way of working out.
In Yellowstone we did many day hikes to falls, geysers and mud pools. We also spent time hiking in and around the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone and saw lots of wildlife including bison, bear, moose and elk.

In all too short a time we were headed back to Salt Lake City. We spent the last night camped on an island in the Great Salt Lake and the final day at a water park before boarding the plane for the return home.
